Joo Yun is a third-year graduate student in Dr. Raizada’s lab and has been focusing on Neurogenic Hypertension using WKY and SHR animal models. Her study is focused on the increased oxidative stress in the brain which results in increased sympathetic nerve activity and systemic blood pressure. Joo Yun injects compounds into the brain through the intracerebroventricular using brain infusion pumps and performing microinjection with viruses to introduce certain genes into specific areas of the brain.
